Back to Texas...

After a month of living out of our suitcases and raising support on the road, it's time to pack our bags once again and hit the road. Our destination this time? Home sweet home. Yup, tomorrow morning we're leaving Sioux Falls and headed back to our apartment in Tyler.

Our time here in Sioux Falls has been great. We've been able to meet some wonderful people, share our hearts for ministry with them, and ask them to be a part of what God's calling us to do in Idaho. The divine appointments God has lined up for us with believers while we've been on the road have been absolutely amazing. It's also been really nice to reconnect with some truly incredible old friends as we've traveled.

It's been a strange trip for us. We were both hoping and praying for a huge breakthrough in our monthly support on this trip that would finish off our goal and allow us to report to campus. So far, that hasn't happened. The big breakthrough hasn't come yet, and it's been kind of frustrating wondering what God is up to on our support.

At the same time though, God has showed us some incredible things and stretched us in ways that we didn't expect going on this trip. Seeing another missionary couple from my hometown church...reconnecting with family after 9 months of being apart...seeing old friends and having the privilege of seeing how God is using them now in ministry...taking active steps of faith where you rely on God to come through in certain situations...these are just a few of the things He has allowed us to be a part of while traveling this past month.

I've been reminded of the importance of prayer these past few weeks. Without it, we're powerless. I know it in my head, but sadly I don't always practice it as much as I should. When you're taking steps of faith where you need God to come through, it's absolutely dumb not to cover the situation in prayer. Sometimes I'm good at this. Other times, I'm pretty pathetic. God has shown me through this trip that I need to be more disciplined in taking all the uncertain situations I'm facing and emotions I'm undergoing to Him. It's been a good but sometimes difficult reminder to face...

Thanks so much for your prayers on this trip. Be praying for us this weekend as we travel. More importantly, be praying for that big breakthrough in monthly support we were hoping for. Pray earnestly that it would happen in Texas soon!

It was so great to have you both with us this last week. We are so encouraged in our own faith walk to see you two step out in faith and trust God to provide all that you need. I pray that God will reveal himself and his plan to you and that you will be ready for the incredible journey he has in store.

Thanks so much for the gifts...we really appreciate them. When Mandy got home last night she said that she thinks that was the best thank-you gift she has ever seen because it was thoughtful and was based on the conversations and activities we had done that week.
