Arrived at 1220 with Some Craziness...

Well, we made it back to Tyler. Let me tell you, it was quite an adventure getting back home. It also has been pretty crazy for us since we've arrived...

Do you ever have a couple of days where it just seems like everything you touch falls apart? It's been like that for me lately. It seems like everything I'm around stops working. It's so frustrating!!!

It all started on the trip back. Now I have to admit that Jenn's car has quite a few miles on it, but honestly, after traipsing across the country this past month with it, I thought we were in the clear driving through Dallas on Sunday afternoon with only 100 miles or so left to home. I should have known better. Next thing I know, we have a puddle of water starting in our passenger seat and an air conditioner that is making all sorts of crazy sounds. Sure, just when we need to start using the air conditioner more driving into the south, it decides to go out. Okay, it's just a car. It can be fixed. Rolling down the windows, we made it back to Tyler.

Getting home, we realized we needed to make a run to Walmart. Walking out to the parking lot, we decided to take my car instead of Jenn's because it had air conditioning. Not thinking about it, we drove over the short trip to Walmart, parked the car, and went in to do some shopping.

Now you have to realize that when you let a car sit for about a month, bad things happen with the battery. Usually, a smart person would let it charge back up the first time you had the car up and going. It's not a smart idea to just drive it two blocks and turn it off. Am I a smart person? Yeah...you know where I'm going with this. Next thing I knew, we were asking the Walmart security guard to give us a jump start. Too bad that they aren't allowed to have jumper cables though! So we started off back home walking...

After a few minutes of walking back in the dark, we arrived at our house. We put our bags in the house and hopped into the un-air conditioned car on our way back to Walmart. Surely it couldn't be that hard to jump the car could it? Half an hour later, we were still in the parking lot of Walmart with a dead car. It wouldn't jump at all. Figures. So we decided to try it again in the morning when it was more light outside.

The next morning, we still couldn't get it to go. Good thing we were by a Walmart I guess. It made it a whole lot easier to get a new battery and change it out. I never imagined that I would ever change a battery in the parking lot of Walmart...

From there, I took my car into get some work on it. There was a recall on the blinker a while back that I never had done. After months of having my blinker act crazy, (and an inspection due soon) I figured it was time to have it done. So I took it in and waited. Sure enough, there was more. Yup, turns out that I need a new drive belt on the car. After looking at it myself, I'm pretty sure their right. It's cracked and bad looking. Looks like I have a project this week to do with Jenn's dad. Time to dive under the hood again!

Thinking that this was all that could be possible for the day, I went home and sat down in front of the computer. I just wanted to check my email. I reached down and pressed the on switch. Next thing I knew, it sounded like a jet engine was coming through our apartment! Apparently, the Dell model I have has fan troubles. Go figure, it had to pick today to act up with a hyper speed insane fan and not boot up. After some work, I finally got it to boot up and quiet down...at least for now. Who knows if it will stay that way!

I'm kind of wondering what will come next. I'm afraid to touch anything electronic or mechanical that has moving parts. When it rains, it pours right? Yeah, we made it back to Texas, but wow...what a couple of crazy days!
