Mechanics R Us

Yesterday, the Pester household was transformed into Mechanics R Us. After a leisurely stroll at Green Acres Park, Jennifer and I found ourselves back in the parking lot staring at our car as my driver side mirror dangled from a cord in the breeze.

Now don't get me wrong, the mirror has been broken for some time now. (I owe that to vandalism in the parking lot of MSU.) Being a busy college student though, I went for the "quick fix" at the time. Yes, I'm a typical man...there was much duct tape and even Gorilla Glue involved...
Driving back home with my arm precariously perched outside the window holding the mirror in place, I was determined to fix the problem once and for all.
What ensued for the next few hours could best be described as the cloud that forms around the Tasmanian Devil in the cartoons. Tools, bolts, clips, foam pieces, screw drivers, and manuals were tossed and strewn about until Jennifer and I cracked the door panel ajar and removed the old mirror.
The adventure continued as we tried to locate a new mirror. Apparently, only generic mirrors are sold at auto parts stores, or at least at the ones we visited. Thanks to our trusty friend Amazon.com though, we should be tackling the project once more in a few days. For now, the Pester mechanic shop as been placed on hold, but very soon these two automotive novices will be back at it!
