Setting our Sights on Theophilus

Theophilus Tower (aka "The Tower")...this 11 story co-ed dormitory towers over the U of I campus and houses many seeking freshmen each school year. It has become our focus in prayer and will become our future staging ground for ministry.

After our vision trip to the U of I, Jennifer and I realized one astonishing fact. There is currently no staff working in the dorms at the U of I. The ministry on campus has focused (rather successfully) on reaching the Greek fraternities and sororities on campus. As a result, there is a need on campus for staff to be in the dorms.

Dorm ministry...I'm excited about it. I did it for 5 years as a student at Montana State. There is nothing quite like seeing God break through and create a community of believers on a floor in a dorm. Rubbing shoulders with freshmen men excites my heart. They are usually the most open and hungry to hear the Gospel. The bond formed in a strong group of male believers can have huge impact on a dorm and the campus.

What would it look like to see this Tower reached with the Gospel? What would it look like to see God break through and have students' lives change through a transformational community of faith? What does God have in store for us? My heart gets excited thinking about it...

Besides filling the need in the dorms, Jennifer will be filling a huge need on the campus. Currently there are few staff women on campus doing ministry. Our team has been blessed recently with two births in the last two months, and the new babies have drawn two of our staff women off campus for the time being. Thus, there has been a desperate cry for more staff women on campus by women students who are eager for discipleship. Jenn will help fill the need once we report to campus :-)

The Tower...Theophilus...the "lover of God" in the Bible (check out Luke 1)...I am anxious and eager to see what God has in store for you in the future...
