The Best Times in Life...

What are the happiest moments of your life?

For me the answer is simple...being in total silence before the Lord while He speaks softly to my heart. Now I know some of you are probably confused. You're thinking, "He's had so many good memories. Numerous academic awards, trips and vacations, playing sports, graduating with a master's degree from MSU, even getting recently married...surely one of these has to top the list...surely these are the best moments of his life." Honestly, they all blur and fade in comparison to some of the times I've spent before the Lord in silence.

Some of the most vivid memories I have are from spending time with God, not speaking or even praying but just enjoying His presence and allowing Him to speak whatever He needs to into my heart. It happens at different times and in different locations, from a condo patio in Orlando to Cocoa Beach late one night to a laundry room at MSU to various walks and hikes I've taken. There is something truly amazing and peaceful that happens when you just are quiet before God and enjoy Him for who He is. All the troubles of life seem to disappear for those moments and I get a clearer perspective on what is really important. I take refuge in the arms of my King.

Most people don't understand this "personal relationship" with God, but honestly I could not imagine going through life without it and missing out on these wonderful times with the Lord. He is intimately interested in the details of our lives and I love just spending time with Him. Yup, the best times in my life hands down have been spent in silence in awe of Him while He speaks deeply to my heart.
